Needless to say, she was asked to step down after a well deserved uproar from Canadians. Unfortunately though, these views still exist today. At least this Texas lawmaker was a little more subtle about her racism. She only suggested Chinese change their names, not leave the country.
"Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese -- I understand it's a rather difficult language -- do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?" Brown said.
this is craziness. my dad once suggested i change my name to make it easier for me in the working world... but it's MY name. obviously didn't change it. hope all is well in china! ~ny-ying (we met during your visit to taiwan)
